Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
EPA Method 323/8260 EPA TO-17 EPA -0100
Qualified and Certified to Provide Air Samples with Certified Lab Test Results!
Air show NIOSH-OSHA or EPA VOC.
Many home and business owners are surprised by the quality of the air they breathe on a daily basis. The release of these compounds can take weeks or even years, depending on the construction material used. One thing is for sure, we will find and identify the source! Our preferred method of testing is EPA standards.
We list the NIOSH, OSHA, and EPA methods because different agencies may require one method or another. Versatility is a plus! The amount of work we put into the test chain of command is the kind of framework that has earned us an excellent reputation. From homes to large industrial facilities, we offer services that go beyond the usual business.
Method One EPA 323/8260🇧🇷 We use different types of portable digital meters that allow for a variety of tests. This method provides a measurement of CO, CO2, CH20, HCHO, and TVOC. We can deliver these VOCs in parts per million PPM. At the same time, we measure 2.5 and 10 micron particles with humidity and temperature. During this test, we can identify the source of CH20 and HCHO. The second method EPA TO-17. This method describes sampling and analysis procedures for the acetylacetone colorimetric method for measuring formaldehyde emissions in flue gases from natural gas-fired stationary combustion sources.
go deadEPA TO-17 - EPA 0100 MethodWe use a low flow pump with a selected laboratory approved collection device to collect air samples. These samples are sent to a laboratory to identify and provide the levels of the other TVOCs. These TVOCs are just as harmful as acetaldehyde, acetone, acrolein, benzaldehyde, butyraldehyde, crotonaldehyde, dimethylbenzaldehyde, and formaldehyde. These compounds are also used in building materials and other everyday products. This method is commonly used by state, state and federal agencies. However, as you can see, using these two test methods gives you a full spectrum of indoor air quality.
EPACompendiumMethod TO-17🇧🇷 Describes an absorbent tube/thermal desorption/gas chromatography-based monitoring system for VOCs in ambient air at concentration levels of 0.5 to 25 ppb. ... covers all aspects of thermal desorption and sampling GC/MS analysis.

Building Analyst Group Inc, with more than 35 years of experience in the construction industry and certified by OCHI, ASHI, EPA, ICC, itc, state and federal agencies. He is a godsend for clients and only hires licensed and certified contractors who specialize in the field.
We use only top quality testing equipment and uphold the protocol for each project. With us you only have the best quality! We have seen and reviewed our competition reports and licences. Nobody offers certifications of the highest quality, professionalism and knowledge like us.
I have spent over 20 years in HVAC refrigeration, ventilation, make-up air, building pressure, and air exchange to support our certifications. He then spent another 12 years on energy efficiency projects that included clean air regulations, asbestos, lead paint, soil contamination, insulation, thermal and vapor barriers, heat and cold loads, etc.
Most of the buildings we test have ratings that exceed EPA benchmark ratings. This includes formaldehyde, radon, volatile organic compounds, CO - carbon monoxide, CO2 - carbon dioxide, lead, etc. We then help each client provide a VOC-free place to live or work.
Source Location:
Our main focus when testing is to quantify the measurements between the internal and external levels. Our tests determine whether or not the air you breathe is healthy. By measuring parts per million PPM in a matter of hours, we get results. However, we have tested each room to try to identify the source when the levels are high. EPA standards for CH20/HCHO should not exceed 0.4 PPM point. OSHA standards for major manufacturers and industrial facilities are 0.75 PPM for CH20 and HCHO. However, we also measure the API Air Pollution Index and CO content. In doing so, we compare the external API with the internal API. If the air is clear, you should be close to the external API. In addition, we also measure TVOCs: Total Volatile Organic Compounds. After taking all the measurements, we can determine the air quality.
Depending on the evidence we find, we will be able to identify the source of the contamination.
Our test and inspection methods are accurate with a detailed report.
VOC tests
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are released into the air as gases from certain liquids or solids. VOCs are found in many different chemicals, some of which can have short- or long-term adverse health effects. Most of the time, there are more VOCs indoors (up to 10 times more) than outdoors. VOCs are produced by many different products and solutions. Organic chemicals are commonly used as components of household items. Lacquers, paints, and waxes contain organic solvents, as do many disinfectants, cleaners, cosmetics, degreasers, and hobbies. The fuels also consist of organic chemicals. Each of these products is capable of releasing organic substances during use and sometimes also during storage.
A typical test of this type can detect the presence of various environmental contaminants and toxins in a building, including airborne mold, allergens, lead, asbestos, radon, VOCs, and formaldehyde, and provides a comprehensive approach to IAQ testing. The tests provide actionable results that can be used to improve the health and well-being of building occupants and workers.
Our air quality testing process is done with portable meters designed to detect particulates. This way we can quickly determine what type of air you have. If we get a large number of particles, we move on to phase two, where the source is identified. After determining the source of the pollutants, we can use a deeper method to test the number of particles in the air.
lead tests
We offer lead paint testing for HUD properties as well as construction lead testing. Whether it's paint tests, risk assessments and line approvals, construction analyst groupcan help with a wide range of environmental lead testing services.
radon test Our radon test only takes 48 hours and you will receive a tabular report.
Radon is an invisible, odorless, and carcinogenic gas.construction analyst grouphas in-house radon experts capable of short- and long-term testing throughout the Pacific Northwest. If high levels of radon are detected, construction analyst groupHelp with the renovation.
air particulate test
Air particulate tests are done to determine how dirty the air is. We tested from 2.5 to 10 microns. Did you know that 2.5 microns is 70 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair? Yes, we can test these tiny air particles. Our meters also tell us how many particles you have of that size. Airborne particles can consist of smoke, CO2, CO, dust, carbon, pollution, VOCs, etc.
COV
Summary:
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an important class ofindoor aircontaminants; internal concentrations are generally higher than external concentrations. Formaldehyde is a Priority VOC due to its common occurrence in indoor air and the serious health consequences that result from exposure. Referring to formaldehyde as a representative VOC, this chapter provides an overview of the knowledge needed to develop solutions for indoor VOC contamination. The toxicology of formaldehyde is briefly discussed. Next, the current understanding of the behavior of VOC emissions is discussed, includingexperimental techniquesto measure emissions, modeling approaches to predict emissions, and the impact of environmental factors on emissions. With a thorough understanding of emissions characteristics and toxicology, it is possible to devise effective strategies to keep indoor VOC concentrations below safe limits.
VOC values given in the literature are generally not comparable. To increase comparability, the VOC must be clearly defined. This definition is given for a specific range of VOCs. The measured concentrations, expressed as mass per volume of air, of VOCs identified within this range are summed. Unidentified compounds are included in toluene equivalents and, together with the identified VOCs, make up the VOC value. Most reported VOC concentrations in non-industrial indoor locations are below 1 mg/m3 and some are above 25 mg/m3. Above this range, the chance of sensory effects increases. Sensory effects include sensory irritation, dryness, mild inflammatory irritation to the eyes, nose, respiratory tract, and skin.
SAMPLING FOR FORMALDEHYDE AND OTHER CARBONYL COMPOUNDS IN INDOOR AIR
1.0 SCOPE AND APPLICATION: EPA Standards
1.1 This procedure provides methods for sampling various carbonyl compounds in ambient air by derivatization with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) on a silica gel cartridge. The method can be used in conjunction with Method 8315. The following compounds can be sampled with this method: Acetaldehyde - Acetone - Acrolein - Benzaldehyde - Butyraldehyde - Crotonaldehyde - Dimethylbenzaldehyde - Formaldehyde - Hexanal - Isovalaldehyde - Propionaldehyde - Tolualdehyde - Tolualdehyde, p-tolaldehyde , valeraldehyde.
The World Health Organization guideline for indoor formaldehyde concentration is0,08ppm(0.1mg/m3). The California Air Resources Board recommends an "Action Level" of 0.1 ppm and a "Target Level" of0,05 ppmor less for houses. In addition to the risk of ALS or other consequences for the nervous system,Formaldehydeis a respiratory irritant that causes chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, and irritation of the nose and throat according to ATSDR. It can also cause cancer and has been linked to an increased risk of asthma and allergies in children. July 27, 2015

Try those PCBs
PCB testing is commonly performed on components and sealants during demolition. Depending on the type of building, a building survey may be required for regulated materials. Contactusfor more information on our environmental assessment services. This information applies when you want to test a building for the presence of PCBs. Once you decide to test, the EPA recommends that you first test the air to determine if building occupants might be exposed to PCBs in indoor air. This first step can help prioritize steps and/or procedures for renovation or repair work. Once you identify a PCB problem, you need to characterize it and determine the level of PCB contamination. It is important to note that PCBs, while not present in the air, can be present in construction materials. The commercial manufacture ofcircuit tablesIt began in 1929, but its use has been banned or severely restricted in many countries since the 1970s and 1980s due to potential risks to human health and the environment.

Indoor air pollution is usually caused by the accumulation of contaminants from various sources inside a home. Emissions from fireplaces, stoves, cigarettes, cleaning products, newer building materials, and chemicals stored in the home can cause indoor air problems.
What are 3 effects of poor air quality? ›Poor air quality can irritate the eyes, nose, and throat, cause shortness of breath, aggravate asthma and other respiratory conditions, and affect the heart and cardiovascular system.
What are 3 issues with air quality that can cause you to get sick? ›Over time, breathing fine particles in the air increases the chances of developing chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, cardiovascular disease, or lung cancer.
What are the 4 causes of poor air quality? ›
The Short Answer:
Air pollution is caused by solid and liquid particles and certain gases that are suspended in the air. These particles and gases can come from car and truck exhaust, factories, dust, pollen, mold spores, volcanoes and wildfires.
Volatile Organic Compounds
Levels of approximately a dozen common VOCs can be two to five times higher inside the home, as opposed to outside, whether in highly industrialized areas or rural areas. VOCs that frequently pollute indoor air include toluene, styrene, xylenes, and trichloroethylene.
- Particulate matter (particles or PM2.5 and PM10)
- Nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
- Carbon monoxide (CO)
- Mold and pollen.
- Tobacco smoke.
- Household products and pesticides.
- Gases such as radon and carbon monoxide.
- Materials used in the building such as asbestos, formaldehyde and lead.
Currently, OSHA has no indoor air quality (IAQ) standards but it does provide guidelines about the most common IAQ workplace complaints.
What are the six criteria pollutants under the Clean Air Act? ›These six pollutants are carbon monoxide, lead, nitrogen oxides, ground-level ozone, particle pollution (often referred to as particulate matter), and sulfur oxides.
What is the EPA standard for indoor air? ›The EPA Ambient Air Quality standard for particles less than 10 microns is 50 μg/m3 per hour for an annual average and 150 μg/m3 for a 24-hour average.
What is the best way to eliminate VOCs from your home? ›- Increase ventilation by opening doors and windows. ...
- Keep both the temperature and relative humidity as low as possible or comfortable.
As mold consumes the nutrients it needs to grow, enzymes and substrates carry out chemical reactions. These reactions produce volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as a byproduct, meaning that raised VOC levels are a risk factor for mold growth.
How do you get rid of VOCs in your bedroom? ›Ventilate, ventilate, ventilate!
The biggest factor to consider when reducing VOC exposure is the off-gassing process. Increasing ventilation through opening windows, clearing air vents, installing under door vents, are each small changes that can help combat high levels.
What are the two causes of poor indoor air quality? ›
Inadequate ventilation can increase indoor pollutant levels by not bringing in enough outdoor air to dilute emissions from indoor sources and by not carrying indoor air pollutants out of the area. High temperature and humidity levels can also increase concentrations of some pollutants.
Does vacuuming improve air quality? ›Vacuuming the floor is something many people do to keep their homes clean, but it also serves another purpose: Improving indoor air quality in your home. By vacuuming up pet dander and other allergens, you reduce the number of irritants in the air that can aggravate asthma symptoms and allergies.
How do I refresh the air in my room? ›- Open a window—but not for too long. If you're struggling with stale air, you can always open a few windows. ...
- Turn on the fan. Another option is to put a new air filter into your HVAC unit and turn on your ceiling fan. ...
- Change your air filter. ...

- Buy indoor plants to freshen the air.
We do not recommend routine air sampling for mold with building air quality evaluations. This is because mold concentrations in the air cannot be interpreted in relation to health risks. In many cases, very short-term sampling for mold spores is performed. However, the results may not represent actual exposures.
Do indoor air quality monitors detect mold? ›It is important to monitor air quality because of the various health issues associated with air pollution, such as asthma. The good news is that modern technology has evolved enough for air quality monitors to be readily available to most people. They can even monitor for mold spores in the air.
Why is an indoor air quality assessment important? ›The purpose of an indoor air quality assessment is to identify issues in the air quality of your facility areas and develop long-term solutions to promote the health and safety of your building occupants.
What are the symptoms of mold exposure? ›Some people are sensitive to molds. For these people, exposure to molds can lead to symptoms such as stuffy nose, wheezing, and red or itchy eyes, or skin. Some people, such as those with allergies to molds or with asthma, may have more intense reactions.
How do I find hidden mold in my house? ›Most mold is unmistakable, but sometimes small or largely hidden growths just make a surface look dirty. A quick test for mold can be done when you dip a swab in diluted bleach (1 part bleach, 16 parts water) and dab it on the wall. If the spot quickly lightens (or keeps coming back after cleaning), assume it's mold.
What are the two causes of poor indoor air quality that are related to the symptoms? ›
- Fuel-burning combustion appliances.
- Tobacco products.
- Building materials and furnishings as diverse as: ...
- Products for household cleaning and maintenance, personal care, or hobbies.
- Central heating and cooling systems and humidification devices.
- Excess moisture.
- Outdoor sources such as:
An in-home mold testing kit can test for mold in the air or on the surface of furniture, floors, or walls. Surface tests consist of swabs and tape strips, while air tests are done with an air pump or a petri dish.
How do you know if mold spores are in the air? ›Most molds produce musty odors that are the first indication of a problem. Mold can grow anywhere there is adequate moisture or a water problem. The best way to find mold is to look for signs of mold growth, water staining, warping, or to follow your nose to the source of the odor.
Is there a device that detects mold in the air? ›Mold Detection
In the same way that smoke detectors identify smoke not fire, the Biomatrix Mold Monitor identifies unseen moisture that can lead to widespread mold growth.
They improve air quality and reduce the likelihood of mold and mildew growth. When installing an exhaust fan, it's important to ensure that the fan is ducted to the exterior of the house and not just into an attic.
What are the 5 main factors that affect indoor air quality choose 5 from the list of options? ›- Chemicals for intended use or unintentional emissions from different sources.
- Radon.
- Particles.
- Microbes.
- Pets and pests.
- Humidity.
- Ventilation.
- Temperature.
